Welfare

One cornerstone of NARBW’s purpose is to “undertake charitable, benevolent and social welfare projects”. NARBW makes an annual donation to the American Cancer Society Women’s Cancer Research Fund. In addition to this contribution from our National organization, each chapter supports programs in their community.

The generosity of NARBW members is outstanding. Members willingly give of their time and money to support worthwhile causes and to assist those in need of a helping hand. During reporting year 2005 – 2006 our chapters and members donated goods and services worth $22,600 and volunteered 29,000 hours.

Many of our chapters have decades long history of supporting worthwhile causes in their communities. The list of projects and programs to which our members have so generously contributed is extensive.

Women’s Crisis Centers around the country benefit from clothing drives and used cell phone donations; Hospitals benefit from volunteer services and donations of comfort quilts and puzzles and books; Ronald McDonald houses benefit from pop tab collections and donated meals for residents; Food Pantries and Meals on Wheels receive our food and checks and time to help; we walk to raise money for the Diabetes Foundations and Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Downs Syndrome and the Heart Association. And this is only a partial list.

NARBW members are grateful for the lives we lead and willingly share our bounty to help others.
