Hats off to Shamonda Jones, who was featured in the National Railroad Hall of Fame video, “Women of Metra: Behind the Scenes.” The video speaks to the experiences and opportunities for women in the railroad industry. Shamonda started working for Metra 16 years ago as a crew caller. Over the years, she has held positions as a chief mechanical clerk, assistant chief and chief dispatcher. She is now a Senior Manager Train Operations at Metra. Prior to coming to Metra, she worked at Norfolk Southern for five years. Shamonda has been very active in the Chicago Chapter, participating in many activities including, meetings, fundraisers, the Breast Cancer Walk and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House.
