The National Association of Railway Business Women (NARBW) recently elected Cynthia Chandler, UP program administration manager-Labor Relations, as its national president.

With more than 30 years of rail industry experience, Chandler becomes the association’s 37th president and has served on NARBW’s national board since 1997. Chandler has held most NARBW chapter offices, in addition to multiple posts at the organization’s district and national levels, including national third vice president, national welfare and revisions chairman and national secretary. She also has been nominated twice for Chapter Woman of the Year and was elected NARBW’s District Woman of the Year in 2008. Active in her community, Chandler volunteers with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Toys for Tots Foundation, Komen Race for the Cure, The Salvation Army, and the Lydia House women’s shelter among other local organizations.

Founded in 1921, NARBW aims to raise interest – particularly among women – in the rail industry. The organization also strives to foster cooperation and better understanding within the industry, improve the industry’s public relations, and further members’ educational, social and professional interests.

The connecting, learning and giving that comes with NARBW membership covers more ground than the rails across America.
